It is made through the process of forging, dosing, kneading, forming, baking, graphitization,machining .It is used as the conductor in the electrical arc furnace (EAF) to heat and melt the furnace burdens in the form of electrical arc. It can be divided into four types according to its quality index including nominal power graphite electrode (NP),impregnated high power graphite electrode (HP)and high power graphite electrode type Ⅱ(HP type Ⅱ)as well as ultra high power graphite electrode(UHP).
